What are the main features of the Uno Rev3 SMD board?
The board is based on the ATmega328P with 14 digital I O pins (6 PWM), 6 analog inputs, a 16 MHz ceramic resonator, USB connection, power jack, ICSP header and a reset button. It comes preloaded with a bootloader and can be powered from USB or an external supply.
Is it compatible with shields and what is the IOREF pin for?
Yes the board supports shields designed for 5V. The IOREF pin provides the reference voltage so shields can adapt to the board voltage.
What are the power options and voltage limits?
The board can be powered via USB or external power. External supply should be 6 to 20 volts with a recommended range of 7 to 12 volts. Less than 7 volts may cause instability and more than 12 volts may overheat the regulator. The 5V pin is regulated and bypassing the regulator by using the 5V or 3V3 pins can damage the board.
How do I program the microcontroller on this board?
The ATmega328 comes preprogrammed with a bootloader that lets you upload code with the Arduino IDE over USB. You can also program via the ICSP header with an external programmer.
Where can I find warranty and support information?
Warranty information is available on the official site. For help contact the Arduino Forum or Arduino User Support as explained in the Contact Us page.
