A gyroscope is a type of sensor that can sense twisting and turning motions. Often paired with an accelerometer, you can use these to do 3D motion capture and inertial measurement (that is - you can tell how an object is moving!)Ā

The L3G4200D is an is three-axis angular rate sensor, with a digital I2C/SPI serial interface standard output, which can be set to ±250, ±500, or ±2000 degree-per-second scale for a large range of sensitivity. There's also built in high and low pass sensing to make data processing easier. The chip supports both I2C and SPI so you can interface with any microcontroller easily.

  • Three selectable full scales (250/500/2000 dps)
  • I2C/SPI digital output interface
  • 16-bit rate value data output
  • 8-bit temperature data output
  • Two digital output lines (interrupt and data ready)
  • Integrated low- and high-pass filters with user selectable bandwidth
  • Ultra-stable over temperature and time
  • Wide supply voltage: 2.4-3.6V
  • Low voltage-compatible IOs (1.8V)
  • Embedded power-down and sleep mode
  • Embedded temperature sensor
  • Embedded FIFO
  • High shock survivability
  • Extended operating temperature range (-40 ° to +85 °)
  • Dimension:16mm X 17mm
